Often we find that when trying to delete a file, windows replies that XP can not be removed because the file is being used by another program.
To solve this problem open a command prompt window (Start - Run - cmd)
And leave it open now close any programs you have open
Press ctrl + alt + del to open task manager and go to process. finish the process "explorer.exe", and close task manager.
We return to the command prompt window and browse to the folder where the file you want to eliminate or delete (file which was not getting deleted) and write:
The filename
then open task manager, File> New task and typed "explorer.exe" (without quotation marks) to reset the desktop. And we can close the task manager and the command window.
Delete the undeletable file
